Moisture, such as from a light rain shower, is absorbed by the paper and water does not seep through immediately. The laptop is therefore well protected. The absorbed moisture dries again fairly quickly.
For optimal protection, a pad is incorporated between the kraft paper layer (outside) and the cover (inside). This means the laptop is well protected against impacts.
